Zusammenfassung: | A keyboard is provided with a key matrix a processor adapted to receive a signal from the key matrix indicating whether a key has been pressed and to transmit data to an external device, and a dedicated "clean" key. The processor is arranged to switch between a first mode of operation, and a second mode of operation in response to receipt of an interrupt signal from the dedicated "clean" key. The clean key disables input from the keys so the keyboard can be wiped clean avoiding erroneous input. A timing circuit may be provided to measure duration of key presses to switch modes. A first elastomeric membrane 201 with moulded raised keys ideally sandwiches a flexibled printed circuit board (key matrix) 202 between a second elastomeric membrane 203. Alignment protrusions and mating recesses are provided in elastomeric membranes and pcb; the membranes being adhesively bonded together. Independent claims relate to keyboard construction and sterilizing process utilising an autoclave. |
