Zusammenfassung:	A jig for use in splicing a cable comprises a support frame, a plurality of posts 220a - 220e connected to the frame for holding the cable, and a tray connected to the support frame between two of the posts. The tray is adapted to support a splicing device 230, and may be movable to allow the splicing device to be moved towards and away from the cable. The cable may be a fibre optic or an electrical cable, and the device may be a fusion splicer. Elements for protecting the splice can be slid onto the ends of the cables after they are resting on the posts but before they are spliced together.
