Zusammenfassung:A fastening device (2, fig. 1) for a strap or band such as a fabric wristband 3 comprises a cylindrical tube 11 with an interior channel. A spike 27 projects into the channel so that the wristband material 3 may flow over the spike 27 when it is pulled through the channel from entrance 32 to exit 33 but is prevented from moving the other way because it is pierced by the spike 27. The entrance portion 32 and exit portion 33 of the channel 31 are parallel but may be misaligned. The fastening device may be brightly coloured or luminous and may include two spikes 27, which may be metal pins. The wristband material 3 has to be cut in order to remove the wristband.
