Hinged gully grate

A cast article 10 has a frame (12, 13, 14, figs 4 and 6) and moveably captive further component (16, fig 5) which has a pair of opposed protuberances (28, fig 5) rotatably received in a close-sided recess (32, fig 3) of the frame. The frame is a two-part assembly which, in use, provides an open-sided recess in a first frame part (12, fig 3), which is closed by a protruding closure (23, fig 6) on the second frame part. Slots (21, fig 3) may be provided, open at an edge of the first frame to locate the second frame therein. The frame members may be secured together by welding. The second frame may have a planar portion at each end defining formations which space the second frame from the frame arm ends of the first frame. The further component may comprise a reticulated grating formed from elongate members and have protuberances which extend the pattern beyond the extent of the grating. The frame may be flanged to provide stiffening and aid keying. A lock is also provided. Also claimed is a method of making a cast article.
