Hand held bag support

A hand-held bag support for ease of engagement with and support of a pliable bag, such as a refuse sack. The support comprises a handle; a bag engaging member fixedly attached to the handle and configured to engage with a pliable bag such that the bag is held open; and a unitary gripping member moveable in relation to the bag engaging member between a first position in which a bag can be brought into engagement with the bag engaging member whereby the bag is held open, and a second position in which the held bag is gripped between the bag engaging member and the gripping member at a plurality of discrete locations spaced apart around the bag opening whereby the bag is supported by the hand-held bag support. Embodiments of the support are described including those of a gripping member and bag engaging member being elongate lengths of material such as steel each defining a complete annulus.
