Epaulette

The invention provides an epaulette (2) for securing to a garment (1), which provides improved uniformity of appearance when worn by people with a range of shoulder widths and slopes. The epaulette (2) includes: a first part (10) securable to a garment (1) with a lower section of the first part in a first position at or adjacent to a shoulder area of the garment; and an elongate second part (20) securable to the garment at a second position thereon and that in use of the garment is laterally inward of said first position. The first and second parts (10 and 20) are joined by a hinge (15) that in use of the epaulette is laterally outward of the second position and above the first position on the garment. The epaulette preferably includes an elongate third part (30) secured to the first part (10) and secured to an underside of the second part (20) by attachment means (33, 26) at an attachment position on the second part that in use of the epaulette is laterally inward of the hinge (15).
