Zusammenfassung:	A driven shaft apparatus for a vessel having a water jet propulsion system comprises a cylindrical housing 4K having an inlet 1K, an outlet and a flow channel between said inlet and outlet extending across a portion of the housing spaced from its longitudinal axis in a direction perpendicular to said longitudinal axis. The housing supports a freely rotatable shaft 3K mounted at the centre of said cylindrical housing along its longitudinal axis. The shaft has a plurality of radially extending vanes 2K mounted to it and extending into sealing engagement with an internal wall of the housing and into said flow channel. During use the apparatus is mounted at a point along the flow path of the water jet propulsion system, such that the water flow to, or from said system passes through the flow channel of the apparatus to drive the vanes and hence the freely rotatable shaft, thus driving a separate apparatus of the vessel.
