Zusammenfassung:	A flat flexible cable 10 has conductors 12 attached to an insulating layer 14, 16. To join two cables, the insulation is removed from one cable to expose the conductors, and a thermally resistant plate 22 is applied to them. Solder 24, such as a paste, is applied to the conductors. The conductors of the second cable are placed over the first conductors and a transparent plate(50, Fig 4) placed over the top. A hold down blade (40, Figs 3 and 4) may hold the arrangement in place. A laser beam (60, Fig 4) is scanned through the transparent plate to reflow the solder.
