Zusammenfassung:A personal digital assistant (PDA) 104 includes a global positioning system (GPS) module (88, fig.3) to determine geographic location information for the PDA 104. The PDA 104 also includes an L-band transceiver to broadcast the location information to at least one other PDA 106 and to receive location data from the other PDA 106 via a satellite 116. A display associated with the PDA 104 is updated according to the determined location information of the PDA 104 and the received location data from the other PDA 106. The PDA 104, 106 may also communicate with portable communication consoles 108, 110 in vehicle units or stationary computers 112, 114 within a ground station 115. Transmissions between the units 104-114 are preferably at reduced power levels, thus extending the useful life of batteries within the units.
