Adjustable star wheel conveyor

An adjustable star wheel which is rotatable about a central axis comprises a disk 36 with a recess 32 in the periphery, the recess able to receive a container, and a pair of opposed spaced apart fingers 44, 45 disposed in the recess. Each finger provides a contact surface for contact a container, and at least one of the fingers is rotatable about an axis parallel to the central axis, allowing variable separation of the two fingers. There may be two disks 36, 37, spaced apart axially from each other and having corresponding recesses, and also two sets of fingers 44-47 spaced apart axially in each set of recesses. Also claimed is an automated guide rail assembly, which comprises a guide rail defining a limit of a path of a container when conveyed. The guide rail is connected to a cam, and the rail is moveable by rotation of the cam to adjust the outer limit of the path.
