The method includes receiving (302) from the wireless network at the MCD (210) a first value. The method further includes transmitting (306) from the MCD (210) to the wireless network a second value. The second value represents a function (304) of the first value, a shared data value that is stored in both the MCD (210) and the wireless network, and at least one metric pertaining to at least one application program stored in the MCD (210).
