Zusammenfassung:	A safety device 10 to prevent unauthorised use of a ladder comprises a number of plates 11 hinged together at 12 and has a U-section channel 15, 16, for hanging on a rung 3 so that the device hangs down to cover lower rungs and prevent climbing. Slots 17 may be provided for fixing of the device to a lower rung by a padlock 20. Two variants are described; one where plates 11 are replaced by many smaller plates as in a roller shutter (Figs 5 and 6, not shown), and another where plates 11 are replaced by rollable material. The device is more portable than a rigid device of comparable size.
