A cabinet and an apparatus for dispensing a parking permit ticket

Apparatus (1) for dispensing parking permit tickets comprises a cabinet (2) sealably closed by a door (11). A panel (15) on which a keypad (20) and a visual display screen (21) are mounted is hingedly connected by a pair of hinges (19) to first mounting members (40) extending from a base wall (4) of the cabinet (1). The keypad (20) and visual display screen (21) are accessible through an access opening (24) in the door (11). A secondary sealing member (54) located on the door extending around the access opening (24) sealably abuts the panel (15). Each hinge (19) comprises a hinge member (42) which is pivotally connected to the corresponding first mounting member (40) by a pivot pin (43), and to a corresponding second mounting member (44) mounted on the panel (15) by a second pivot pin (45) for facilitating substantially rectilinear movement of the panel (15) towards the door (11) when the door (11) is in the closed state. Resilient pads (52) mounted on the first mounting members (40) and abutment members (50) urge the panel (15) into sealable engagement with the secondary sealing member (54). By virtue of the fact that the panel member (15) moves with substantially rectilinear movement into engagement with the secondary sealing members (54) the pressure by the panel (15) on the secondary sealing member (54) is substantially even around the secondary sealing member (54), thereby providing a watertight seal.
