A melt is injected into a mould 12 and gas is injected into the melt to form a gas cavity 26 in the melt, wherein gas flow is established through the mould cavity and between a gas inlet 24 and a gas outlet 28. A gas channel is formed between the gas cavity 26 and the outlet 28. The injection gas may be nitrogen.
