Zusammenfassung: | A filter, for removal of particles from the exhaust gas of a combustion engine by oxidation of particles caught in the filter, is coated with a nitrate forming solid material. The solid material may comprise silver as Ag, Ag2O, AgOH, AgNO3 or AgCO3 or a mixture thereof Alternatively, the solid material may be a compound of alkaline (earth) metals, rare earths and transition metals, main group elements or a mixture thereof and may comprise at least two compounds in the form of a mixed oxide. The solid material is preferably applied to a fine-pored cater substance ideally comprising (La containing) zircon oxide, (La containing) aluminium oxide, Mg-Al mixed oxide, cerium oxide, titanium oxide, silicon oxide, Si-Al mixed oxide, a zeolite or a mixture thereof. The solid material cause nitrogen oxide to be stored as nitrates which cause, at temperatures from 300{C, oxidation of soot particles into CO2 chemically reducing the nitrate to NO and NO2, thus making it possible to lower the temperature required for oxidation of the soot and to achieve regeneration of the filter. |
