Zusammenfassung:	A scanner apparatus 10 comprises a housing 12 having a transparent platen 14. A wiper 24 mounted within the housing 12 is moveable along a displacement path 20. A drive system 22 operatively associated with the wiper 24 moves the wiper 24 along the displacement path 20 so that the wiper 24 removes accumulated debris from the undersurface of the transparent platen as the wiper 24 is moved along the displacement path 20. There are claims for: a scanner apparatus 10 comprising a transparent platen 14, a wiper 24 in contact with the undersurface of the platen 14, and a drive system 22 for the wiper 24; a scanner apparatus 10 comprising a housing 12 having a a transparent platen 14, a scanner device 16 with a drive unit 22 to move it along a displacement path 20, and a first wiper 24 mounted to the scanner device 16; and a method comprising providing a scanner apparatus 10 having a transparent platen 14 and a scanner device 16, and mounting a wiper 24 on the scanning device 16.
