Zusammenfassung:A balanced Pierce crystal oscillator comprises two common-base transistors 10 and 11. Oscillation amplitude is controlled by varying the current sources 53 and 54 connected to the emitter nodes 19 and 20. The DC collector voltages on nodes 8 and 9 are stabilised by the bias loop amplifier 44 acting on current sources 46 and 47 to match the common-mode collector voltage to the reference voltage 45. Loop amplifier 41 controls current sources 42 and 43 to null the differential DC voltage on nodes 8 and 9. The use of current sources in both the collector and emitter circuits renders the oscillator insensitive to noise and voltage fluctuation on the supply lines.
