Zusammenfassung: | Entering lengthy URL addresses into a keyboard such as provided on a mobile telephone can be difficult. A secondary address is used as an alias for a primary address identifying a remote data object, e.g. a website on a computer network. A price is associated with the allocation of secondary addresses, and this price may be determined in dependence upon the secondary address length, any pre-existing relevance to users of the secondary address and the duration of intended use of the secondary address. The secondary address may be formed of a common alphanumeric prefix together with a variable numeric suffix. The alphanumeric prefix may be the URL address for a remote server that maps the numeric suffix to the primary address of an internet web page. |
