Asynchronous information request package

An information request from a client device is wrapped in one or more layers to produce a request package. The layers may include an encryption layer, routing layer, device information layer, client information layer and application identification layer. The request package is transmitted over a distributed network of processing nodes such as the Internet. Layers are added to and/or removed from the package at one or more of the nodes. The package is processed at a destination server and a response package generated for transmission back to the client device. Requests may be asynchronous in that the information may be returned immediately or at a later time depending on the nature of the request. Requested information can be pulled together from a number of application servers and encapsulated as a composite but protected item for delivery to the client.
