Copying machine

Apparatus for scanning an image and printing copies of the image comprises an input device for allowing a standard image or photo output size to be selected, and a controller. The controller determines the actual size of the original scanned image (104), and generates copies that are scaled to the selected size and positioned and/or rotated (106) to utilize the maximum printable area of the outputted sheet. The apparatus also involves the use of a 'clone' function which allows the printing of multiple reduced copies of an input image on a single output sheet (see fig. 3).
