Dual axis articulated computer input device

A computer input device 14 comprises a first handle 16, a second handle 18 coupled to the first handle, a sensor operably coupled to the first and second handles to provide relative position indication thereof, and a controller coupled to the sensor to provide a computer input indicative of said position indication. The device may include a linkage portion 22 coupled to at least one handle to provide a tactile feedback as the first handle transitions from a first plurality of behavioural ones (ie. zones which affect a display on a display device differently) to a second plurality of said zones. The device may also include resistance mechanisms to provide resistance to movement through said zones. Data structures are also disclosed which are used to transmit relative position information to a computer. The device provides ergonomic advantages to reduce fatigue.
