Zusammenfassung:A method of discriminating currency bills includes the steps of receiving a stack of bills in an input receptacle, transporting each bill past one or more security thread sensors, detecting the presence and a characteristic of a security thread in a bill, and denominating the bill by comparing the detected characteristic with stored data. The characteristic may be the colour or location of the security thread, and the method may include illuminating the bill with visible or UV light.
