Zusammenfassung: | A lockable joint (10), which may form part of an arm of a surgical operating table, has two axially arranged locking rings (31 & 32) having recesses (34 & 36) around their inner surfaces. An inner member (50, figure 10) having an inclined annular surface (54, figure 10) is provided within the rings. This surface engages a locking member, preferably a ring of locking balls (60), and when moved axially urges the balls into the recesses of the two locking rings to lock them against relative rotation. Preferably, the inner member is actuated by a cam member (70) which may be operated by way of a manually-rotatable knob and in the unlocked state, the locking balls are received in an annular channel (53, figure 10) containing a resilient member, for example foam (55, figure 10). |
