Determining start of injection and injection delay in a solenoid fuel injector for i.c. engines
The injection delay of a solenoid injector is determined by comparison of the time of generation of the command signal from the controller to the solenoid and the time that injection actually starts. The start of injection may be determined by sensing the position of the needle check eg using electr...

Zusammenfassung: | The injection delay of a solenoid injector is determined by comparison of the time of generation of the command signal from the controller to the solenoid and the time that injection actually starts. The start of injection may be determined by sensing the position of the needle check eg using electrical contact between the check and the needle check stop or an eddy current sensor (602,fig.6). The invention is applicable to injectors of the hydraulically-actuated, electronically-controlled (HEUI) type in which the viscosity of the actuating fluid, eg engine lubricating oil, varies with engine temperature and oil type, leading to variations in delay before injection and accuracy of amounts of fuel delivered. |
