Vacuum cleaner having cleaner module separable from a dirt collection chamber

A vacuum cleaner comprising a cleaner module (5, fig 1), an upper casing (1, fig 1) and a lower casing 2, retained to each other by one or more fixing cams (54, fig 14) such that lower casing 2 can be used as a dust collection chamber 65, a displaceable filter element 62 covers the dust collection chamber 65. The cleaner module (5, fig 1) separates from the dirt collection chamber 65 to allow cleaning of the bowl filter (47, fig 9) and leaves the dirt collection chamber 65 covered by the filter 62. The cleaner module (5, fig 1) may be arranged such that the electrical cable (7, fig 1), switch (30, fig 11), lamp (32 fig 11), air inlet and air outlet can be located in an annular gap formed between the upper (1, fig 1) and lower 2 casings. Storage means for the vacuum hose assembly (22, fig 1) and the vacuum tools (17 19 18, fig 22) may be provided.
