Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:	A compact in-tank fuel pump filter, which forms a portion of a fuel pump and filter module for a vehicle, includes upper and lower filter housing members 32, 34 which cooperatively receive the filter element 36. The lower filter housing member 34 includes an outlet fitting 60 which mates with a complementarily configured pump inlet fitting 80 and is secured by releasable snap-lock fasteners 70, 94. The inlet fitting 80 receives a fuel pump housing 22 and includes passageways which direct fuel to the inlet of the fuel pump. Both housing members 32,34 and the filter element 36 are contoured to partially wrap around the fuel pump housing 22 in order to maximize filter area and contaminate holding capacity while minimizing total filter size. The filter element is preferably pleated paper but may be any suitable high capacity filter media.
