Berm device

Apparatus for building a berm (10) to contain a leak or spill has a plurality of corner members (18) each having an elongated member (16) spaced there between. The elongated members (16) may be formed from a pliable strip having a vinyl housing (24), and are filled e.g. with a foam material (36) having shape retention properties. The elongated members (16) are sized and cut at the workplace to form a berm (10) of sufficient size to meet the present spill containment problem. Once the side members (16) and corner members (18) have been selected and arranged, they are secured to the building floor (20) by a caulking compound. Strapping material (22) can then be applied, if necessary, to seal the joints between the corner members (18) and the side members of the berm (16).
