Zusammenfassung: | A data processing network comprises at least one client system connected to first and second server systems, the first and second server systems being operable to communicate with the network according to first and second incompatible data communication protocols respectively. The client system is operable to issue, onto the network, a first initial boot request (e.g. RPL) according to the first Protocol (e.g. IEEE 802.2) and the first server is operable, in response, to send bootstrap code according to the second protocol to the client system where it is loaded into client memory and when executed (causes the client to issue a request (e.g. BOOTP) according to the second protocol, for servicing by the second server system. In another embodiment, the client system issues boot requests according to two protocols in turn, until it gets a response. |
