Zusammenfassung: | A vibration damper comprises a cylindrical tube (5) in which a piston rod (13) carrying a piston (19) is arranged to move axially, guided by a piston rod guide (7), and a tubular casing (3) which encloses the cylindrical tube (5). Where the casing is made of a material which has a co-efficient of thermal expansion which is significantly greater than that of the material of the cylindrical tube (5), differences in length arises between the cylindrical tube (5) and the tubular casing (3) at temperatures below and above the temperature of assembly. The tubular casing (3) has as compensating means at least two expansion ridges or corrugations (21) which hold the cylindrical tube (5) under pre-load with respect to the tubular casing (3) over the entire operating temperature range of the damper. |
