Zusammenfassung:	A vehicle cruise control system operates to keep the vehicle at a required separation from a preceding vehicle by accelerating or decelerating the vehicle within limits set for the comfort of the driver and passengers. When it is determined 30 that the vehicle is decelerating at or close to the maximum level permitted by the cruise control system, then an audible 38, visual 36 or haptic warning 40 is given to the driver. This enables him to make a decision as to whether or not to take over the control from the cruise control system.
