Zusammenfassung:	In a production line control system, the affect of a stoppage in one of the production units making up the production line is predicted 33 using a simulator of the production process. The system predicts 35 the time that a given production unit can be stopped for without affecting the quantity of goods required to be produced from the production line eg in a day. This is done by setting 32 a virtual stop period for the production unit and increasing this until the simulator predicts that the output of the production line will be affected.
