Guiding sleeve for a vehicle headrest

A guiding sleeve (10) for slidably receiving a rod (43) of a vehicle headrest comprises at least one snap-in stop (38, 40), an upper end of the sleeve including an extension (14) for receiving a spring element (20) which has a first portion (38, 40) co-operating with said headrest rod (43) and with a second portion (21) is supported by a wall (16) of the extension (14). An unlocking element (50) with two parallel spaced legs (52, 54) is arranged in the extension (14). The spring element (20) comprises at least one spring leg (26, 28) connected to a cross arm (22) with the spring leg (26, 28) engaging the rod (43) at its side. A cam surface (70, 72) on the unlocking element (50) between the legs (52, 54) cooperates with an end (42, 44) of the spring leg (26, 28) so that the spring leg (26, 28) is bent away from the rod (43) when the unlocking element (50) is moved into the extension (14) to release the engagement between the rod (43) and the spring (20).
