Zusammenfassung: | A mechanical sensor for a passenger restraint system e.g. an air bag in a vehicle, includes several primers 66 for activating a gas generating component, and trigger means for setting the primers off in response to a velocity change. The sensor also includes an inertial mass 40 for sensing the change in velocity. When the vehicle is involved in a crash the mass 40 moves a lever 52 against the biassing force of a spring. This releases members 62, (74) so that spikes 64 strike primers 66. A surface 88 on an insert 16 prevents movement of the lever 52 until the sensor has been armed by insertion into a cavity in the restraint system (120). |
