Zusammenfassung: | A draw bar coupling for a vehicle combination, tractor and trailer, incorporates a sensor assembly for sensing the loads acting on the coupling in more than one plane, specifically two or three planes at right angles to each other. The assembly has a housing 5 with a mounting plate 6 secured to the tractor. Sheer webs 12, 13 join a central core 11 to the plate 6 and a loading pin 15, through which loads are transferred to the trailer, is mounted in the core. The load on the pin 15 is transferred to the core 11 through resilient buffers 16, 17. Strain gauges attached to the sheer webs 12, 13 measure horizontal and vertical forces. Overload stops prevent overload damaging the sheer webs. |
