Each processing unit sends on to medium 3 a message comprising data and a code indicative of the data content, and selectively receives the data of the messages from other processing units on the basis of the content codes of those messages. By determining whether or not the codes arrive at predetermined intervals, processing unit faults can be detected. Backup in the handling of output units is provided. |
