Zusammenfassung: | The invention relates to apparatus for cleaning copra. The problem from which the invention arose is that of providing such a cleaning apparatus which, even with a relatively wide range of sizes in respect of the product to be cleaned, guarantees reliable separation of all contaminating materials such as stones, sand, lumps of earth, fibres, cords and tapes. The apparatus delivers (1) copra on to an endless sieve conveyor (2) which passes beneath a housing (3). Within the housing (3) a partition (9) affords two zones. A rotary drum (6) in the housing has a perforate surface and by application of suction (8) copra and light debris is attracted from the belt (2) and held against the drum (6). As the latter rotates, in a calm-air zone (10) the suction effect is reduced and the copra falls off on to a discharge conveyor (11). The debris is sucked away to a collection chamber (13). Heavy contaminants like stones remain on the conveyor (2), and are ultimately discharged therefrom. |
