Battery housing structure for camera

A battery 13 housing structure in which an operating member 30 is provided with an engaging boss 31 engageable with a protrusion 10a formed on an inner surface of a camera body 10. An opening of the battery chamber 12 is closed by a lid 20 in which the operating member 30 is held. The engaging boss 31 is engaged with the protrusion 10a by which the protrusion 10a is sandwiched between the engaging boss 31 and the lid 20 to thereby fix the lid in a closed position over the opening of the battery chamber. The engaging boss 31 may be released from the protrusion 10a by rotating operating member 30. The lid 20 is slid on the camera body 10 as shown by the arrow A when opening and closing the battery chamber 12. In another embodiment (Figs. 11-13) the lid is connected to the camera body by a pair of claws and a recess which fits over a screw head on the camera body.
