Apparatus for producing smoke screens and the like

A wide area smoke configuration can be produced manually or automatically by rapid repeated production of smoke forming liquid jets by using an arrangement of one or several displaceable tubes 1, each with a nozzle 2, in combination with cartridges 5 which fill the entire tube volume and are formed with a chamber (8) for liquid and a chamber (9) for propellent charge the chambers being separated by a piston (14). With two component smokes, cartridges 5 may be filled alternatingly with the two components (N1, N2), or may contain the two components separated from one another. As shown a single tube 1 has an ignition arrangement incorporated in a closure head 3 and is associated with a magazine 6.
