Zusammenfassung:An aluminosilicate containing 0.5 to 50 wt.% SiO2 is obtained by mixing an aluminium alkoxide hydrolysed with ion exchanged purified H2O and similarly purified orthosilicic acid in an aqueous medium. Product obtained is dried or calcined. The aluminosilicate produced has a high purity, below 50 ppm Na2O and contains at least 99.5% by wt of Al2O3 plus SiO2. It can be spray-dried and then has surface area of 300-520 m /g and may be calcined at 1100 DEG C for 24 hours. The dried powder is e.g. mixed with a binder and extruded into pellets for use as a catalyst carrier.
