Zusammenfassung:	A rotary beater 1 for use in the suction nozzle of a vacuum cleaner comprises a rotatable shaft 4 provided with at least one flexible blade 5 comprising a base material 6 of rubber or a thermoplastic elastomer and a covering material 7 of plastics having wear resistance and relatively low co-efficient of friction, the latter being located on that side of the blade which in use comes into contact with the surface being cleaned. The covering material may be made of nylon or polyethylene and may be secured to the base material by an adhesive 8. The blade may have teeth 9.
