Zusammenfassung:	A height adjusting device provided for head rests of motor vehicle seats and comprising a guide 1 in which support rods 3 of the head rest are guided for longitudinal displacement and in which ratchet means are provided which, in conjunction with ratchet notches 19 in the support rods 3, permit of stepwise height adjustment, the ratchet means 20 are in turn disposed for displacement in the longitudinal direction of and on the guide 1. In addition to the height adjustment in stages which is produced by releasing the ratchet means, displacement of the ratchet means 20 permits of infinitely variable and fine adjustment.
