Zusammenfassung:The device, which is for controlling the movement of a door (11), particularly the closing movement, comprises a linkage mechanism (45-47) connected between the frame (10) and a door closer (15a) mounted on a backplate (13), and retaining means (38) on the backplate for normally preventing return movement of part (47) of the linkage mechanism once the door has been opened, the part (47) being a catch plate integral with a spindle (16) of the door closer which is thus biassed to rotate in the door closing direction. If the catch plate (47) and a main arm (45) of the linkage mechanism are connected together, by bolt (49), the door is held open once it is moved to an open position. If the catch plate (47) is free of the main arm (45) the door is free-swinging once in the open position, while the catch plate (47) is retained by means (38). In the free-swinging arrangement, the bolt is secured in plate slot 48 to be abutted by link (45). The re-positioning of the bolt is thus used to convert from a free-swinging door to a held-open door. In the event of a fire means (38) automatically releases plate (47) to be rotated by the closer 15 to close the door regardless of whether it is in a free-swinging or held-open state. Manual closure is also possible with a door in the held open state by overcoming the hold-open force.
