Zusammenfassung:	Apparatus for cutting off individual pieces from a material strand S of a plastically deformable sweet (candy) material, which is conveyed at constant speed, cuts individual pieces with cutting knives 9 from the material strand S, without a hold-up at the cutting position. This result is achieved in that a grooved cam 7 is mounted fixed obliquely to the strand conveying trough 1 on an axle 5 fixed to the housing 4 and that this grooved cam 7 is surrounded by a knife carrier disc 6, rotatably journalled on the axle 5, at the periphery of which disc 6 a cutting knife 9 is fixed to at least one pivotally mounted knife carrier 8. Inside the knife carrier disc 6, a lever arm 10 is fixed to the knife carrier 8, a cam roller 11 of which lever arm 10 is in operative connection with the cam track of the grooved cam 7.
