Zusammenfassung:In an electromagnetic print hammer assembly an energy absorbing socket 35 is retained by a pair of resilient arms 41b on a rear housing member 41. A plastics ring 35d and resilient rings 37,39 are also employed to assist in cushioning the returning hammer 29 without subsequent rebound. Also described is the arrangement of an annular abutment surface 29e (Figures 6A-C, not shown in abstract) to limit forward movement of the hammer, whereby damage to the platen is avoided if there is no character die present between the hammer and the platen. A one piece component 25 bears and guides the hammer and also forms the former for the coil. Front housing 21 is provided with mounting lugs.
