Load handling

Method and apparatus for facilitating load handling including provisions for locating the rear end 14R of a trailer 14 as close as possible to a desired registration with a load carrying structure 20 and for lifting of such trailer rear end, and if necessary further swinging the end sideways, to achieve relationships of level and axial alignments satisfying said desired registration, preferably with further provision for the load carrying structure 20 to have its distal end raised, possibly even sideways shifted, so as further to improve said axial alignment relationship and matching of inclinations of floors of the load carrying structure platform and trailer. Trailer rear end engaging apparatus being provided having upwardly extensible and downwardly retractable means comprising a lift frame and carrying sliding tube assembly 40 and two jacks for engaging said trailer rear end to lift same for alignment with the end of said load carrying structure. The distal end of the load carrying structure may also be provided with jacks.
