Food packaging

A package for ingredients, for example "instant" tea, comprises a tube (1) having a sealed end (2) and a number of slits or lines of weakness, e.g. channels (4), extending part-way along the tube from the sealed end (2) towards the opposed end (3). On application of pressure to the opposed end (3), the slits or channels (4) open to permit ingredients to leave the tube (1) to enter a surrounding liquid. In use the tube may deform to a whisk shape to facilitate agitation of a liquid. In an alternative use, the ingredients may be flavouring for a cold drink, such as milk, such that sucking a liquid through the tube (1) flavours the drink. The tube (1) may be made from a plastics material such as polystyrene for example.
