Harvesting onions

Apparatus for harvesting onions or similar produce comprises: a base arranged for traversal of a field of growing produce; a first chassis 10 mounted onto said base; airflow generating means 28 arranged to provide a flow of air for straightening stems of said produce; stem trimming blade means 32 arranged for rotation in a plane generally parallel to the ground surface and mounted on said first chassis at a location partially offset and trailing the location at which said airflow generating means provides straightening of said stems; and means 22 for governing the orientation of said first chassis to maintain said blade means at a predetermined height over the ground surface.
