Surgical instrument for resection of hollow organs

A surgical instrument for resection of hollow organs, comprising a suturing device (1) including a supporting body (2) having depressions 3 for bending staples (4), a staple body (5) having a staple magazine (6), and an ejector (7) for ejecting the staples (4). A pivot device (9) is provided for coupling the staple and supporting bodies 2,5 together and is arranged adjacent one end of the suturing device. A retainer (11) for locking a relative position of the bodies is arranged at the other end of the suturing device (1). Cutting may be effected, e.g. by a laser beam. There is provided a mechanism for conveying one of the bodies in the plane thereof in parallel with itself, and the pivot device (9) is coupled to this body through said conveying mechanism, and the retainer (11) is of a length adjustable in accordance with the amount of movement of one of the bodies by the mechanism for moving the body.
