Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:	A hydrostatic support structure wherein, to move a surface with a load disposed thereupon with respect to a bearing surface (8), a liquid cushion is provided due to a feeding of a liquid into an inner space (2) defined by the bearing surface (8) and a housing (1) having a sealing member (7). Within the housing (1) there is disposed a piston (3) provided with its own sealing member (5) which seals the gap between the housing (1) and the piston (3). The load is placed on top of the piston 3. In operation, liquid enters the space 2 via pipe 6 so raising the piston/load assembly to the desired height. The structure is thus ready to convey the load. To reduce the friction between the sealing member (7) and the surface (8) during travel of the support, aqueous solutions of soap or mineral oils may be used as the liquid.
