Zusammenfassung:Suitable apparatus comprises a vacuum chamber 1, rotatable cylindrical "Squirrel cage" 5 comprising disc electrode 6 for producing a glow discharge separated by insulated spokes 7 from the opposite disc electrode, drive means 4, and entry and exit ports 14 for the rubber articles 9. In operation, the rubber articles 9 are wetted with CF4 and coated, in vacuum, with a strongly-bonded thin protective polymer film in sealed chamber 1 accommodating mechanism 5 for tumbling the articles. The invention can be used in the rubber industry for manufacturing mechanical rubber articles featuring a coefficient of friction that is exceedingly low for rubber, and an increased wear resistance.
